FIA Orders & Shipments Survey (MEMBERS ONLY)

The FIA Orders & Shipments Survey has been relaunched in partnership with Wipfli to provide a more user-friendly, confidential way for members to track North American forging industry trends. The monthly survey collects bookings and shipments data across Impression Die, Open-Die and Rolled Ring processes, with additional segmentation by materials and end markets when enough data is available.

Exclusive to FIA member producers, the survey takes 30 minutes or less to complete each month and allows returning participants to maintain access to historical data. By contributing, members gain valuable insight into demand trends, market shifts and capacity utilization across the forging industry.

Wipfli Manufacturing Pulse Study

The Manufacturing Pulse Study is a recurring market research initiative conducted by Wipfli to track key trends, benchmarks and forecast indicators across the manufacturing industry. The study draws on insights from manufacturers in a wide range of sectors, including tool builders, metalformers, suppliers, gear and bearing producers, forgers, fastener manufacturers, plastics processors and die casters.

Wipfli analyzes the data collected through the study and follows up with participants when clarification is needed to ensure the results are accurate and meaningful. The study is conducted in partnership with the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA), the Forging Industry Association (FIA), the Industrial Fasteners Institute (IFI) and the Motion and Power Manufacturers Alliance (MPMA).

The report includes an executive summary of key findings, an overview of the overall manufacturing climate based on responses from 321 participants, a supplier-focused analysis and process-specific insights that provide a deeper look at individual manufacturing segments.

For this study, “suppliers” includes machinery and systems manufacturers, raw material suppliers, chemical suppliers and finishers. “Infrastructure” includes roads, highways, cable, Wi-Fi and bridges. “Industrial equipment” refers to items such as pumps and valves, while “industrial machinery” includes forklifts, warehouse racking and other machinery excluding material handling equipment.
