Participate in Lightweight Forging Initiative
FIA members are invited to join the third phase of the German Forging Association’s Lightweight Forging Initiative. After the first two very successful phases realized weight saving potentials of 42kg in a conventional passenger car and 99kg in a light commercial vehicle (see www.lightweightforging.com for results), the third phase will concentrate on lightweight approaches for a hybrid passenger car and a truck transmission.
The first two phases were initiated by the German Forging Association (Industrieverband Massivumformung) and the German Iron and Steel Institute (VDEh), and included companies from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The third phase will be set up on an international level, addressing the forging and steel producing industry in the United States and Japan.
To participate, complete the application and return it by Feb. 24, 2017. The initiative will begin in September 2017 with a technical workshop in Germany. All details about the project contents, background, proposed timeline and the costs of the initiative are available in the project proposal.
By participating, you will be able to increase your company’s international recognition, and benefit from the initiative’s communication and marketing activities. Additionally, you will gain deep insight into the automotive lightweighting and e-mobility trends.
