Community colleges are an excellent resource for finding skilled employees to feed your future workforce pipeline and upskill your current employees based on your particular needs. But where to begin?
You can start the process by attending the FIERF hosted Building Your Workforce at Community Colleges Summit half-day program on Friday, April 5, at Cuyahoga Community College’s (Tri-C) Manufacturing Technology Center of Excellence.
If you are an FIA member in the Cleveland area, this is a great opportunity for you to find out about the resources available in your backyard. If you are outside Northeast Ohio, you can learn how to build a similar program in your local area, with the support of FIERF.
As a Summit participant, you will:
Discover the wide range of shop-applicable courses available for continuing education of your current employees;
Learn the capabilities of the “Mobile Training Lab” that can come to your plant and deliver training;
Share your specific industry needs to develop potential career paths for students to follow (short, medium and long term);
Learn when/how to interact with students through plant tours, internships and apprenticeships and become an employer of choice in your community;
Meet Ray Nejadfard, dean and executive director of the Manufacturing Technology Center of Excellence, Alicia Booker, vice president of the Manufacturing Technology Center of Excellence, and Mike White, program manager at Advanced Manufacturing;
Develop program partnerships; and
Tour lab facilities for hands-on training.
There is no cost for FIA members to attend the Summit, but pre-registration is required. Please contact Karen Lewis at (216) 862-6967 for more information or to register with the names and titles of your team members. Detailed information regarding the agenda, meeting location and parking will be emailed to registrants prior to the event.
