The Forging Industry Association – Department of Defense Manufacturing Consortium (FDMC) conducted a board meeting at Weber Metals in Paramount, California, on Dec. 6. As part of this meeting, the FDMC updated its strategic plan, addressed other strategic issues of the FDMC, and toured the construction site of Weber Metals’ new 540 meganewton (60,000 ton) press, which will be coming online in 2017.
FDMC members attending the meeting included Chris Ratliff (cunico, and FDMC vice chair), Jon Tirpak (FDMC executive director), Al McCormack (Weber Metals, and FDMC chair), Al Underys (Finkl Steel), Roy Hardy (FIA) and Mike Ulven (Ulven Forging). Darryl Hammock (Weld Mold) participated in the meeting via teleconference. The FDMC supports a variety of DoD initiatives and supports FIA and FIERF via various research projects.
