Acting in support of Forging Industry Association, FIERF focuses the industry's technology advancements on the fulfillment of the Forging Industry Technology Roadmap - the long-term vision of the industry to ensure the North American forging industry remains a world leader in customer-focused, efficient, and cost-effective supply of high-quality components.

The Foundation's role in these research projects includes

• acting as catalyst, guide and support for collaborative research ventures;
• development and funding of projects of importance to the industry,
• direct support of and participation in university/industry partnerships, and
• dissemination of information.

• Research Reports/On-going Research Projects are the core of the forging industry's technical advancement and the fulfillment of the Technology Roadmap's goal to strengthen the forging industry in far-reaching ways. These projects join people together in a process and effort for the common and collective good of the forging industry.
  
  
• Foundation Sponsored University Student Research/Projects bring together university professors, students and industry representatives to provide students industry-relevant research experience while expanding their appreciation and understanding of the forging process.
  
  
• Colorado School of Mines' Advanced Steel Processing and Products Research Center (ASPPRC) Forging Research, serves as a resource to the forging industry through the Foundation's Named Professorship. Forty percent of the Center's primary research programs focus on bar and forging steels.
  
  
• Use the Technology Project Submission Form to share your ideas for areas of need for the forging industry.
  
  
• Collaborative Research in the Forging Industry: A guide to encourage interest and participation by FIA Members will provide the reader with a quick overview of the process and the support that FIA and FIERF can provide.
